I know everyone has a fall blog but I am just a little excited for this Holiday Season, okay!
Well I'm pretty opinionated in politics. My first point is in regards to the economy. President Lincoln said that you can't build a country up by tearing down the strongest members. I don't believe in the concept of wealth-redistribution. Taking from the wealth just brings the "bar" down and giving to the poor sounds just like the welfare programs our government already has in place. I have been mortified living in Pittsburgh. There are so many people that live off of and take advantage of the government programs. Why go to work when you can earn more money by staying home and having more kids without a father? When you drive through the scariest streets of homestead you will see brand new mustangs and Cadillacs parked outside. I believe that the only way to build an economy and country is through competition and hard work.
Secondly, I believe that experience should over-ride physical appearance.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the competitors for a fine race. It has got to be so emotionally draining to campaign for 2 years for President of the United States of America. Both of them did a great job composing themselves after insults, communicating their strongest beliefs and carefully spending millions to promote issues they believe in.
Okay I'm off my soap-box! I have let it out!
You would think that I would remember to not become comfortable in comfortable situations! I lost my job this last week and it has been a roller-coaster. I can blame and be hurt all I want but that doesn't change anything. The fact is that I was humbled and it was good for me. I realized that I have been missing some very important personal spiritual time. And I'm sure that I was just asking for this last week from my behavior! Heavenely Father doesn't answer your prayers everytime you ask but he always gives you the oppotunity to understand his will. So today I got a call and it is back to work. I have another temp job. It isn't to hire but it will keep me busy and earning money and it is flexible with my holiday plans which is nice. I hope that I can learn a lesson from this experience.
Sorry for no pictures this time! I do have a funny story though. Dev decided he didn't have time and needed a hair cut RIGHT THEN!! Wow. So we went to this old barber across the street from where we voted. We walked in and it has the 1920's chairs and a really old old cash register...the whole place looked like it hadn't changed for a good 60 years! He got out the cream and a huge razor and cut his hair old style. He moved his scissors SO FAST! He had been cutting hair for 52 years! We got the whole run down of his WWII experience as a barber. Then all of his old buddies came in (just to talk of course) and I have never laughed so hard in my life!! The first one walked in shaking his head and said, "I just voted for the socialist!" Then they tried to out do each others stories. The one that one proceeded to tell Dev how he took back his dentures to his dentist after 6 months!! 6 months and they accepted them!! Sick! Anyways by the time we were done we were thouroughly entertained and impressed! Another really cool memory we have made here in Pittsburgh!
