The dreaded contacts!

A not so quick update about our lives.
We attended a surprise party for one of the first years students...Tyler. It was the best surprise I have ever seen. It was definitely "America's Funniest Family Home Video" worthy! Great job Nicole J! All I said was smile and got that face!

So my dad gave me one of the best gifts I have ever received....these glasses about 4 years ago.

They were basically falling off my face now. And Dev was starting to complain about headaches and so I made Devin and I an eye appointment. Where else would we go but Costco?! We get to the appointment and Dev was first. I was laughing so hard! He has glasses but wanted contacts because it was hard for him to keep refocusing. As those of you who have contacts know...the process is a little slow and embarrassing. So he is sitting in front of the mirror with a contact on one finger (ready for the kill) and the ornery optometrist on his other side. I was sitting in the other room listening to the following:
"K....really slowly now....little to the right....k...left...right...up...go faster.....left...left....go left!" And then the optimistic seriously grunted when Dev missed and said, "lets do it again!"
I was laughing so hard! I look over and Dev is full out crying tears down his cheeks trying to get these little contacts in with the old doctor yelling at him! Then out of the blue he leans around the corner with blood shot eyes and says "Nicole, GUESS WHAT! I won 24 tubes of tooth paste today!"
I seriously was laughing so hard. Anyways the optimistic turned out to be very handy because he re-adjusted my glasses! He almost didn't' give them back to me telling me that "You really should consider not putting 4 year old glasses back on your eyes!" Doc, the lenses don't just go bad!! I could never give these up! Well I ordered some new contacts. They are making me really dizzy and sick to my stomach so I'm going back to the old Frequency 55 contacts!

We also had a really fun Halloween party. Of course there were too many treats and desserts to eat, but the costumes were great and we had fun playing mafia and the name game. I don't know what it is but every time I play Mafia I think of my family. I feel like I can hold my own in the game but I am horrible compared to some of my family. I have never been in the most intense, confusing, exciting and sinful games as the Ray Mafia games! I miss you guys!
Of course...Dev and I dressed up as John McCain and Sarah Palin! We had a little too much fun with the black and white hairspray!
