Now that I have a job...I feel like time just flies by. Dev and i wake up and have to be ready to go around 7. In Pittsburgh the work day is 7.5 hours a day. So work starts at 8:30 and ends at 5 with an hour lunch break. Dev has classes at 8 or 9 everyday and they are usually over from 2 to 4 in the after noon. Usually he will study and then ride home with me. We will get home at 6. He will study and I get dinner ready and we are usually ready to go to bed around 9 or 10. It is a late night if it is 11!!
Devin is settled into school. He has drilled out a tooth, put a dam on a patient (which is that plastic inter tube that goes around a tooth with a cavity so the doctor can drill). Don't worry I asked too and got a roll of the eyes like...."You don't know what a dam is??!" He has also taken a few tests as well. He is doing well in his studies and procedures. He informed me that he likes dentistry! The guys in his class are really fun too. You would think that they would get sick of each other and school but when we hang out after, they are still talking and laughing with each other about tooth number 8 and 9 and some angle on the incisor! Nerd talk if you ask me!!!
At work I am an assistant/secretary for the dean of the industrial engineering department at the university of Pittsburgh. I'm kind of a big deal....
Dr. Bopaya Binanda (from India)
Minerva
Nora and I
This is the order of seniority. Dr Binanda is the dean and he is hardly ever there. He is in India this week and Mexico next. Minerva is really nice and is in charge of the department. She handles any major crisis and events like dedicating the building after a 40 million dollar contribution this week. She splits up the paperwork, events and students between Nora and I. Nora has about 90 undergraduate students and I have about 90 graduate students (70 MS and 20 PhD). We are in charge of their orientation, opening BBQ, applications (95% of my students are international students) visas, dissertation paperwork, appointments, traveling expenses, etc. I am busy at work. I love that! It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something and the day goes by so fast. I really like Nora! They have been so patient with me! Even down to teaching me how to make coffee, which is even more embarrassing of a question here. They live off of coffee until about noon! They ordered some hot chocolate for me!! Here is the view out my window overlooking campus and Pittsburgh.
I love lunch time. I usually get it to go and eat it at a park or outside a monument or mini plaza. This is by far my favorite place to eat! It is an old 1800's cathedral. The janitor hasn't kicked me out yet cause usually I share with him!
This weekend we had an office party and went to the Pittsburgh Zoo. I love the office but was disappointed with the morals this episode.
Dev being goofy while saying something about Eastern Idaho State Fair and milking a cow!!
Me trying to copy!
Dev was cool during the whole zoo until we got to the bears. Then he lost it! He loves bears apparently. Out of the 5 bear cages this is the best picture I could get of him!
My favorite was the baby elephants and the jelly fish. The baby elephants were just a few weeks old.
We went with some first years..Heather and Chad. It was really fun. We got rained out at the end bu it was still worth it!
Sunday has turned into my blogging day! Oh, Dev got called as the Young Men's President and I'm just loving my calling in Nursery. They are hilarious.
For example:
The other day I got the bubbles out. They went bizerk. Emma started running in small circles chanting BUBBLES, Bubbles, BUBBLES just like Finding Nemo, Payton would march up to one saying, "Fee, Fi, Foe, Fum" (like a giant) and then pop a bubble, Gage would try to count them all but couldn't get past 7 so he would just start over, and Maddy just straight out screamed at the top of her lungs!! I love nursery!
