Cross Country Skiing

I learned a few lessons on this outing:
1.) Cross country skiing is not a walk in the park!
2.) The 2 inch tracks that they groom for the skiers are not a garentee against embarrassment or injury.
3.) They don't measure off road powder by inches at Island Park, they measure it by feet!
4.) If you lean forward on these skiis you don't go faster like the hill, you fall on your face.
5.) Cross country skiing is one of the most beautiful and (mostly) relaxing activities I have experienced.

We went 5 miles in 3 hours. The park had resotred 100 year old cabins for the half way snack and resting spot. There were a lot of illegally pouched skins and historical stories about the cabins that you could learn while at the village. Then it was back outside. Yes, we were laughing so hard at each other that we would let multiple people pass before we could keep going. But, when we were doing well the senery was incredible and the silence was breathtaking. The pictures just don't give the terrain justice. It could be one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on Earth. I highly recommend this outing to everyone!
